Supercard DSTWO announced |
posted by djdynamite123 11-21-2009 |
 |
The Supercard team have today confirmed directly to GBAtemp.net that the development of the successor to the Supercard DSONE is now officially under way.
Their newest cart, unsurprisingly named the Supercard DSTWO, will be a mash up between the original DSONE and the hardware that was found in the iPlayer multimedia player. It will of course be DSi compatible, but will most likely not have 'i' in the title, but that is subject to change. That means you're going to have a cart on your hands that can play both Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance games without any additional hardware. There will also be a SNES emulator, but we have not yet had the chance to see this in action.
Alongside the built in emulators, the DSTWO will also boast a revamped real-time feature system, multi language options, slow motion and a file management system.
Here's the official feature list for the Supercard DSTWO:

Theater Room, Nintendo’s Video On Demand Service Launches Tomorrow |
posted by djdynamite123 11-20-2009 |
 |
Nintendo is giving the Wii no Ma (Wii’s room) Channel a major upgrade.
For now, this service is only for Japan. Nintendo has not released Wii’s Room in any other region.
Quote:
Users will be able to watch feature films like the “Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and Kirby episodes in the new Theater no Ma (Theater Room) area.
Warner Brothers Japan, TV Asahi, Walt Disney Japan, Asmik Ace, NHK, J League Media, Sesame Workshop, Howcast, Bonus, Warp Star, Toei, NTV and the Pokemon Corporation will provide content for the service. Specific movies and anime series have not been announced, but Elmo videos should be available at launch.
Aside from this 100 Wii Point ($1) episode of Kirby, pricing is still up in the air. Please note that the fee is only for a rental and rates will vary depending on the content. One neat Theater Room feature is some videos can be transferred to a Nintendo DSi for on the go viewing.

More "Unlock Your Wii" Scam Sites |
posted by djdynamite123 11-20-2009 |
 |
giantpune has contacted me in regards to yet another "Unlock Your Wii" rubbish site. The site i'm talking about is http://brewdownloader.com
This site is selling "how to hack your wii" rubbish, and using various homebrew apps in their ads. A few users have contacted them and requested their own homebrew apps be removed from brewdownloaders ads, and replies were, it will be done soon.
I suggest a message for others to contact these scam people and request that if their stuff is used in an ad, it be taken down. Also even if your apps aren't used yet, send a message to keep it from being used!

KeyStego 1.0 Released |
posted by djdynamite123 11-18-2009 |
 |
WiiCrazy (I.R.on) has contacted me in regards to his new PC based program that provides a mechanism for you to convey secret information in regular text. The thing in general called Steganography which is mostly used in watermarking to protect the authenticity of certain media, be it a movie a picture, you name it.
In the past it's used in spying during wars or similar serious stuff.
Quote:
Requirements:
.Net Framework 2.0
How does it do this?
There are 500 most common English words in the bundled words.txt file, they are sorted from the most frequent to less frequent. Words are divided into groups of 125 words each having a value from the first four powers of two (1, 2, 4, 8) . For each sentence a checksum produced to form a nibble that is 4 bits or in another words half a byte. Once you choose your words
carefully you can convey secret information in a normal looking sentence.
Bundled example.txt conveys famous disc common key of Nintendo.
Of course you are not limited to such usage, say you can create an article and embed your site's
address in it and later can claim that you wrote it.
It seems ninty failed to develop a secure system to prevent copying of their discs. We got somehow a half decent implementation of security instead. We got the keys so we can open the discs. Too easy to do. It relies on a shared key which is called common key and we all know it.
Once the key revealed they didn't have any means to protect it. It relies on a shared key which is called common key and we all know it. Yes said that before and you know where the key is?
It's in the cpu of every wii. You think it's a very good place to hide something like this and it's true. But they also hardcoded this key in every ios they developed. This opened the door for hacking. And soon after that famous trucha bug is revealed which exploited ninty's bad secure hashing implementation. That was the actual blow. People made a lot of stuff exploiting that little bug. Here we are. That was all in past wii hacking history.
Now let us get back to present. Yet now ninty tries to prevent homebrew with mediocre methods like removing installed content from wii's installing stub copies. In the games they are making changes that are too easy to patch. Most anticipated release of 2009 hacked by changing just single word in the main executable.
What waits us in the future? Real hard measures? More sloppy measures like we have seen till now? What people think is ninty will increase the protection. That's hardly right.I think they will come up with something in-between. And that will mostly affect those users who won't be arsed to delve deep in technic talk, that's modchip users of course.
Since modchip stuff nowadays a business with a fair amount of money involved in it, chances are slim that those modchip users would be left alone.
Beware, this text is the demo of the KeyStego application, words are carefully chosen so that secret information can be embedded. It may seem a natural text but there is serious work in it to hide the secret information.
Hope you found it interesting to read

BBC iPlayer Wii channel now live for UK ONLY! |
posted by djdynamite123 11-18-2009 |
 |
As you know in my last thread, we discussed about the BBC iPlayer channel which was due to be released. Well, it is now ready for download via the Wii Shopping Channel!
I have to say it's pretty snappy looking, it's slow as you would expect using your bandwith, But once your programme has started to play, never a problem. If ever I miss EastEnders I can safely say I have a fair few choices, either watch it on the Wii, wait for a repeat or watch it on the PC's iPlayer (:P.)
This is a UK only channel, it will not work outside of the UK.

Brakken Ranting - Get over It |
posted by brakken 11-17-2009 |
 |
If you been a long time Skeener then you might be able to appreciate what I have to write. If not, screw off. I've run this site for almost five years by myself finding news on my own, but you may have noticed lately I've been about a day late and I have to source all my news to the other pages that have found it by themselves.
Some of you might not have a problem with this, but my motivations aren't that simple. There are other so called "console news sites" such as DCEMU who do nothing, but play linking games and copy and paste news from other sites. I have been aware of this for two or some years, but have strived to be the first site with the news by spending 8-10 hours a day in front of the computer.
Well, this has stopped and I'm close to an all out strike and also closing the site totally due to sites like DCEMU and the others NintendoMax has mentioned. NintedoMax had the balls to stand up to larger sites who steal their news just to be threatened by lawyers. If you've been around you might recall brakken.net. I played the lawyer game for over two years having to move my site from host to host.
The site shined the thruth on evil scene sites maxconsole.net (who has now turned a general news sites) and ps3news (which has now turned into a RSS feed stealer with enough popups to kill 10 cows). At any rate I don't pay as much attention to "TehSkeen" as I used to due to sites like DCEMU and am close to an all out "STRIKE" (this means NO NEWS AT ALL).
If you give two shits you should support TehSkeen by going to sites like DCEMU and in a professional manner voicing your opinion, but I doubt maybe 10 out of the thousands of visitors care enough to do so. I provide a service and you would think by my advertisements I would be living it up, but unlike xbox-scene and maxconsole who charge $400 a month I charge barely anything - just enough to host the site and buy a couple of pizza's per month.
What I'm trying to say is after 5 years I've grown sick of the mother fucking leechers like DCEMU who just feed off of the scene and make a few thousand dollars a month off of doing so? Jealous? No hardly. I just find them as the shit sucking off of the scene. - end of rant

TonesynthDS v0.24 Released |
posted by brakken 11-17-2009 |
 |
hotelsinus along with the rest of his coding team have released a new version of their matrix synthesizer for the Nintendo DS.
What's New?
+ Copy, paste (and clear) for every editor type.
+ Song editor. The columns represent a set of the patterns. The bottom value is the first pattern and the top is the last. You can set 16 different pattern in one "song pattern". You can change between the "song patterns" as you do it with the regular patterns (in pattern editor). If you push the play button, the first pattern that will be played is the pattern that determinated by the first column. At the end of that pattern the next pattern will be the one that determinated by the second column, and so on. After the last column is played the next pattern will be used from the first column of the second "song pattern", and so on.
+ Eg, decay to the lpf. The left of the 'eg' and 'decay' sliders represent 0Hz; the rights represent the maximum avaible cut off frequency (16384Hz in this version); the middle are always the frequency that is set by the 'cut' slider. The cut off frequency is interpolated between the value of the 'eg' slider and the value of the 'cut' slider during the attack and decay phases, and interpolated between the value of the 'cut' slider and the value of the 'decay' slider during the release phase.

Thanks to Nintendomax a French news site that doesn't steal and just copy news like DCEMU for the news!
