wiicm version 286alpha1 released posted by brakken
11-21-2008

christian.remboldt has released a new version of his Nintendo Wii cheat code manager application that is used to select your cheat codes from an external file. This new version features a basic GUI reminiscent of 286 computers, background music and a brand new file selector which supports directories.

Quote:
Wiicm is a native wii cheat code manager, for use with WiiRd codes and the GeckoOS\Ocarina code handler. Save the complete txt cheat file for each game to /txtcodes/ directory on root of SD card. Run wiicm and it will allow you to choose which codes to activate or skip and create a new/updated gct file in /codes/ directory on root of SD card.

Using the pc based code manager can be inconvenient if you like to use codes one at a time or if you take your wii to a friends house. Now just save the txt cheat code data to you SD card once. Wiicm provides full management capabilities, without ever removing the SD card or saving or uploading any new files

11-20-2008

Marcan from Team Twiizers has posted a lengthy article on his website regarding the latest System Menu update issued by Nintendo for the Nintendo Wii. This System Menu update blocks the use of the Twilight Hack which is used to enable the use of homebrew on Nintendo Wii consoles.

Marcan posts that Twiizer's is working on a new solution for getting homebrew up and running on the Wii. He says there are other games that can be exploited and that the old ways will be gone - including DVDx and other applications. You can read his post below.

DEMOTEV (DEMO) Released posted by brakken
11-20-2008

GranDFr?re
has also released another demo for the Nintendo GameCube. Here is another rough translation.

Quote:
With DEMOTEV, I wanted to associate light and texture, because in fact I knew the light by using vertex and display textures, but I could not combine the two. This is where the VTE: The VTE can combine ( "mix") color information or not with a texture and / or combine texture with a texture (multitexturing).

It also plays well with the color and alpha of a textured surface with color and alpha a colored surface. Background: alpha is the degree of transparency or opacity of a color.

It can make 16 combinations (Stage) but only a multitexturing 8 textures. But it is enough.

In short, using operators, parameters, type of matrix, sources texture coordinates we do what we want the texture. As with Open GL.

This demo is not multitextures and want a reason to use this possibility.

I had already made a demo showing a cube with different textures simultaneously, but it was not multitextures as I had announced. I was wrong.

This demo does Shows a cube with a few comments on a star whose "color of the stars change.

Scrolling (DEMO) Released posted by brakken
11-20-2008

GranDFr?re
has released an oldschool demo for the GameCube named "scrolling". Here is a rough translation from the source.

Quote:
Scrolling with, I had to manually create the characters leaf small squares method "old school", and noted the coordinates of all vertices. I also made a routine that calculates all the normal averaged for the Light (ie more than normal in a table).

At the beginning it should be a scrolling, but it has become over time an auditor modeling characters. That is why it is a "rotation character", "transparency" and "display vectors" that shows the normal.

You can also manipulate the camera you see that light is before the character and act from behind it.

Sony's New PSP-3000 Hacked? Possibly ... posted by brakken
11-19-2008

A known source for misinformation has published an article on a new product by Datel that supposedly boots Sony's new Sony PSP 3000 series portable video gaming console into service mode. Maxconsole claims that once in service mode already available custom firmware's can be installed on the new console.

Quote:
Once you're in service mode, you can downgrade your PSP and pretty much do what you want with it! - Maxconsole
Datel claims their new "Lite Blue Tool" was created by reverse engineering the new security chip in the PSP console via silicon level investigation.

Quote:
Although there were early indications that the PSP3000 had embedded Service Mode capability, it was clear that silicon level investigation would be required to understand the new mechanism - Datel
However, there is already growing skeptisism to Datel's new product via a known member of the PSP hacking community. Alek claims that the fact the PSP's light is on and the console is in service mode doesn't mean you can install a custom firmware.

Quote:
About new D@tel Battery
You might have seen a new Battery that has come into the market, as always with a price and with a good advertising program...

Well, this post is just to answer some mails that I've received.

1. To have a LED indicator ON, doesn't means that you can install cfw or hack anything. Remember 088v3 mobos? Right.
2. It's spreading like a timebomb that it can be hacked and so on. Well, what any user can see is an interesting campaign to promote an article that is not yet released. It would be interesting to see.. how about an old "hello world" like on Noobz time, instead of a "buy today" call?
3. Just to remember all this things up, LED indicator ON and nothing on screen means directly what Dark_AleX explained here about the preIPL.

Would be an interesting step, indeed, in case that the protection on 3k would be sort of a signal encryption or a change of protocol instead of just a change of the battery pin communication system; so, until more proofs come into play, I would not definitely go in a rush to buy it xD.
So is this another advertising push to make money (as with the CycloWiz) by Maxconsole or is Datel's really onto something? Even if when in service mode you can't install a custom firmware it still is a step in the right direction. If in service mode you can install a custom firmware then this is the first product that can help you hack the Sony PSP 3000.
