#tehskeen IRC channel is now open

Everyone is welcomed to join our staff in the IRC chat room #tehskeen on EFNET for modification questions, help, general chatter and whatever else you feel like talking about. We aren't a stuck up channel that forces you to be peaceful and could care less if you aren’t politically correct. Everyone has their own point of view and you’re welcomed to share it, but don’t expect the masses to agree with you. We welcome rants, debating and logical conversation.

How to join?

You have two options: use a client or use the web. IRC is actually its own protocol (like HTTP) that was invented before there were webpages! So to get on it you have to get an IRC client just like you have to download FireFox to view the WWW. There are two really good clients out there which are mIRC and IceChat. I will cover on how to get into our chatroom with mIRC so you’re on your own with IceChat.

Chatting with Us Using mIRC

Download and Install mIRC from www.mirc.com

Run mIRC, a screen will popup with some ugly dude’s face on it. Click continue.

Now enter in your name, email address, your username and alternative username. You don’t have to put in your real name or email – just put anything you want. You username is what you’ll be named when you login.

Next over to the left a little there is a menu tree that starts with Connect and under it there are Servers. Click on the Server menu.

Now you will have the server menu in front of you. Under IRC Network pick EFNET and then under the IRC Server pick one. I would recommend picking EasyNews or the server located in Boca Raton, Florida.

Next you click the Connect to Server and it will try to connect. If it can’t connect try another IRC Server. If you can't connect to that one keep on trying to connect to one.

(You can also add your own EFNET servers by visiting http://www.efnet.org, but I wont be explaining that here.)

Once you are logged in a bunch of text will scroll down the screen and then stop. Now you will type into the bottom box “/join #tehskeen” (don’t type the quotes) and you will be in our IRC channel.

Chatting with Us Using Your Web Browser

First thing is to go to http://chat.efnet.org and then when the page is loaded click on the Advanced link.

Now enter in your username and where it asks what channel to join replace what is in there with #tehskeen.

Click on connect and it will load (it might take a little bit). After a bit you will be in our #tehskeen chatroom!

FYI – For Your Information

Now you can talk to anyone that is in there, but a lot of the time we are idling which means we have mIRC open, but we might be playing a game, at work or sleeping. If you ask a question and don’t get a quick reply just hang around for a while and someone will eventually reply.

Of course you are also welcome to “idle” for as long as you want and then just start talking when other people are participating in a conversation.
