I have gotten the message "One or more ROMs/CHDs for this game are incorrect" for the following games:
Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninja (US)
Mercs (World 900302)
Altered Beast (set 7, 8751 317-0078)
Xenophobe
I noticed at times when loading these games, even though they load, I believe on some occasions they cause SDL Mame to lose sound. I would have to reload the application to get sound in games.
I also noticed that some games, like Splatterhouse (World), run extremely slow with audio that skips alot compared to other games.
If anyone is playing these games without any problems or error message, which romsets are you using?
Not sure if I can ask this information here so sorry if Im out of line.

"I played through a few games start to finish and had fun, so I wouldn't call it useless, not to mention that you boldly claim we can't see the differerence in quality and novelty, which is laughable. It's a work in progress and we're all having fun trying it out and sending feedback on what can be improved."
- So you played through a bunch of games that run 1:1 on a 486 but
with skipping frames because a next gen PPC port won't?
Sounds like great fun to me! 8)
I support the author but come on! If you're used to playing the stuff
how it's supposed to be played then you'd notice my point.
I am a huge M.A.M.E. buff and am very famillier with how it should work.
I never said everyone here lacks the ability to tell the difference between
quality and novelty. Don't make me out to be a bad guy simply because
I point out facts about a release.
I've offered Toad King nothing but kudos for his work.
We need to be realistic about where it's at though or else the speed
issue, which is the most important issue, will get ignored while all
the bells and whistles many are requesting get attention.

i would say anything above 6MB will boot it back to the homebrew channel so keep that in mind everyone.

While I am the first to say I'm enjoying the emulator in its current form I would say light gun support should really wait to be considered until games hit a more stable frame rate. The Wii cursor would likely be really jumpy in the current form. There are some pretty big fish to fry prior to reaching that point (longer list of roms, better framerates, full classic controller button support, maybe polished front end even).

Sure this has some issues with speed (compared to xbox, PC etc) but there are many games that are already very playable. It wasn't very long ago that we had no useable mame on the wii at all!
Keep up the good work Toad King! ...looking forward to your future updates!

This is still a very, very early build, and many things still need improvement. If you're a MAME guru like you say, then you should know most of the speed hits from MAME are due to video rendering. Since my current builds only have software rendering, this is causing a majority of the slowness at the moment, and without frameskip, the emulator would be pretty much unplayable.
So just chill. I'm well aware of the issues you're bringing up and I'm not ignoring them. (Making a whole different rendering engine will probably be a ways in the coming, so don't expect anything right away unless somebody who knows about OpenGL and/or GX steps in to help.)

About the pointer support... Will you be adding "mouse" support for games with paddle controls?
I mean, when the Wiimote is actually pointing towards the screen, it would be nice if the game could be controlled with the (invisible) cursor, rather than the analogue controls.
Games like Arkanoid would benefit a lot from this, judging by the controls in Block Breaker Deluxe. For other kinds of games, just not aiming at the screen could disable the mouse controls.

ICEknigh7 I am pretty sure you can do this already, I have been playing Tempest and using the wii remote to move like you do in bit trip beat. Took a bit of messing around with the control settings but it does work. You can't seem to use it has a mouse pointer yet but.
What I mean is when you go to the menu and set up your contols, instead of pressing a button tilt the control until it registers.

Hi I'm new to all this and installed it yesterday just to play the Simpsons arcade and was wondering how do you save and load states all I mapped the save state button to one of the classic controllers shoulder buttons and a message comes up asking where I want it to be saved but I cant click anything I tryed all the buttons.
Also I you accidentaly map 2 buttons to the same button how do you remove that map.
Any help would be fantastic.

I got same Mapping problem. Too much confused so I just copy file default.cfg, then replace it. Then try mapped again.

Hey man don't you have something to do to help insted try to break are nervous here.
If you are a great programmer WHY YOU DON'T HELP.
The homebrew community idea is to help eachother EVERYONE to make thinks Better.
Everyones that plays with mame or other emulators notice some problems but try to tell to programmers with a proper way what is wrong so they can fix them because WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS.
SO STOP this F....ing thing that you doing and help..
Greetings Azrael.....

That's great! Playing Star Wars like that just pointing at the targets would be fun.
Any chance you can make the Wiimote work like the StarWars control yoke? (holding it sideways and turning it left right up and down?)
If in your copious free time you can also get pacman working, that would be freaking awesome too.

Well we've already got (on retail) House of the Dead so thats one off that list.
I think the limited rom select in the emu is a biggie for Toad King to try and crack first though so we can see all our games first? ...although I'd love some Op Wolf and Point Blank on the wii!

Toad King: I wasn't trying to cause any disrespect I just wanted
some of the people who don't seem to understand off my back.
I was mostly trying to point out that I am pretty sure the Linux
port ran faster because I never use frameskip and I remember
playing it. Since the Linux port uses software rendering as well
I was wondering why. It seems to me that even in software
rendering the WII should be able to run older stuff 1:1.
I'm sure you're aware of this but it could have to do with
the version of M.A.M.E. you port.
Even if it doesn't have anything to do with it, it would still be
a good idea to take a look at the history.
If you go back into the M.A.M.E. history you'll find that some of
the earlier versions ran much faster than the current ones and
most of what the current ones offer are newer games - games
that wouldn't ever be able to run on the WII no matter if it
was 100% ASM such as TEKKEN 3, 3 arcade monitor games,
any of the CHD games, etc. - So it may be a good idea to look
for the fastest version and port that over, even if it isn't the
most recent version. Kudos for all the work you have done.
M.A.M.E. is something that should have existed a long time
ago on the WII and it's great you stepped up to the plate.

I'm guessing that, due to the MAME code being constantly evolving towards more accurate low-level emulation, the games in next versions will always run slower with each revision, but with less bugs.
Since going back to previous versions would regress all those fixes, and optimizing each of the 9347273620856 games in MAME is a no-go, other solutions must be thought of. After seeing the evolution of Wii projects like Quake, using the GX sounds like the best of ideas.

It's most likely because MAME is running out or RAM to use. Try running it in a PC MAME emulator and seeing how much RAM it's using there (though the task manager/whatever your OS uses)

How can I get all my roms to show up on the selection screen? Some are there, I'll pick a game, back to menu and then others show up and other's I've seen disappear.
