and controller plugins. I would reccomend using the plugins below. They can all be
found using Project 64's Webpage (http://www.pj64.net/main/).

it is not possible to patch a rom with any high res textures like these, because they are not meant to change any data within the rom.
When an N64 emu "decodes" al the instructions on the "virtual N64 CPU"(the one the emulator "fakes") about the graphics, and passes them to the "virtual N64 GPU" (it is a bit different than that, but I'll keep it simple) it is a PC stile renderer that renders the image because you mostly want to be able to use hardware acceleration and you wouldn't be able to using the N64 language on your grafics card, so it has to be traslated. Once you have al the poligon and texture data traslated to a more PC friendly format, you can do it what you please, for example, change the textures before rendering.
This is implemented on a grafics plugin for N64 emulators: Rice's Video Plugin
It changes the textures delivered by the emulated game for others that can be up to 4x the size of the originals, real time, on the fly, just for rendering...
No way to patch it onto a rom, because it doesn't belong there, it's not something understandable by the N64 hardware, real or emulated.
these are for Rice's video plugin only (or any other plugins that may clone the method)
Yeah, it would be crazy cool to do it, but it is not possible.

I need some help, i read the install guide and then went to dl'd the files and there were 5 diff downloads for the high res pack but there are four of the same files and one that is considerably smaller. I dl'd the first one then put it all together. The other problem im having is when i go into pj64 and try to edit the graphics settings (checking the box to use high res graphics if avail), there is nothing there but some text that says advanced settings cannot be changed. How do i fix this?

In the main configuration you need to toggle that it will display 'advanced settings'.

i figured it out. i had to reboot the pc. my instant gratification wanted to try it out before i went through the proper steps of installing a piece of software.
BTW... I tried the pack on OoT master quest (u) and it werks great. thanks for the reply.

It will work on all the other Zelda's including the Master Quest, but it only supports the (E) version so if you run into issues such as missing textures or messed up stuff that isn't on the bug report list in the official forum then it's the version of the game you're playing.
The (E) version has a 5in1 language selection mode so if you can read English (I was going to saw 'If you're American, but you know...') you should get this as you wont run into any unknown problems.

Alright, this may be a little late, but I only recently got to replaying Zelda games, and having completed most of the ones I have 100%, I decided to search for something fun.
I found this, and at first it worked fine, but with this video plugin...the game, no matter the version or region or whatever, always crashes as Navi is flying from the Deku Tree's area into the main area of Kokiri Forest. The error "Executing from non-mapped space. Verify ROM and Rom Settings."
Anyone offer anything along the lines of advice? I've tried a few things, with no luck.
brakken
10-13-2006, 08:16 PM
Sadly, I was unable to reproduce the error. You need to use the (E)urope version of the ROM image and everything should work fine. I would try going through the entire process of setting it up again and if it still fails then I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks for your help, and the guide in the first place. Seems the rom I had was either dodgy, or just another version been tagged (E) by someone.
It seems to be working fine, I need to tweak a few graphical issues with the plugin, those being the invisibility of water, random invisibility of certain things, such as the wall with the drawbridge missing pieces, and Epona's legs being missing from certain angles, for some reason...certain heart containers and pieces of the magic bar being invisible and the sky turning black whenever I happen to be in direct sight of the sun in select areas and similar problems...what fun lies ahead.
But thanks again anyway.

Yeah, there are some minor graphical issues that need to be worked out. Hopefully the author of the modification will update/fix these issues in the future.

This is your first and final warning. Additionally, all others should head this warning. This is not a warez site. We will not give to you or link you to any ROM files. You need to own the original (E) version of this game and dump it yourself. Final warning.

Thanks for this tutorial...
I see some real good looking elements... However, the native textures give to the game a deeper feeling,,, with a light poligon charge and cel shaded hi res textures it looks like Zelda Wind Waker...

The same thing happens to me :(
SoraK05
05-11-2007, 04:17 PM
It happens with the normal video plugins... The reason that happens is that it is a framebuffer effect that is very hard to emulate, that makes it take a few seconds to go into the pause menu, since it tries to capture a picture of what is on the screen, and make it appear as a faded background... THE ONLY video plugin, so far, that can do it perfectly is the Glide3X plugin <I think that is what it is called>... which doesn't support hi-res texture packs of any sort :( If you want to stop the video lagging during the pause, there is a GameShark Code <There is one for MASTER QUEST FOR SURE> that when it is on, makes it go into the menu straight away... if that helps...

Install project 64 1.6
Put the project 64.rdb in the root folder of project 64, to overwrite to one that comes with project 64 1.6
copy the BMGlib.dll to the root folder of project 64
copy the RiceVideo.dll and RiceVideoDbg.dll to the plugins folder in the project 64 folder
go into the plugins folder and make a folder called hires_texture
go into hires_texture and paste the folder of The Legend of Zelda
your directory tree should look like this: whatever....\Project64 1.6\Plugin\hires_texture\The Legend of Zelda
If you don't see any texture options, using Rice Plugin 6.1.1. Beta 10, try going into the game first, then go to the graphic options...
That should do it..

There is a setting to enabled extended options so you can configure your graphics plugin. Sadly, I forget it's exact location (or what it's called), but it's in there.

At first when I opened Project 64 1.6 I never saw that option in the graphics menu... it was only after I overwrote the original project64.rxd with the one I downloaded from this page that it worked... Perhaps your overlooking one of the steps... I followed it to the letter, and if works fine for me... I honestly can't think of anything that could be stopping it from working... I've seen it not working before, but, when I did everything this page said, it worked perfectly fine... So I don't know...

Yes, it's you ROM that's causing the issues. You need to use the European (E) version of the ROM. As for the settings go .. get a new video card or computer :P

I would first like to say sorry for posting for help in a none help thread, but most of the smart people seem to be in here so this is where i am asking.
I have having issues with Djipi's and KMan's Mods, but more so with Djipi's. Link seem to like the clear look. I am wondering if any one has seen this problem before or know how to fix it

pic2 (http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/6280/link2vx8.jpg)
Next I am having a small issue with KMan's mod, it is with the magic meter, part of it isn't showing up right, heres the picture link for that.
pic3 (http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/4200/link3is5.jpg)
I thank any one in advance for any information they can provide on these to issues.
-Steven
Edit:
After testing a little more I found that the problem with KMan's mod with he magic meter has somthing to do with the Rice Video Plugin, since with the high rez text load off it still creates that partial missing white "box" around the magic meter. I am hoping that correcting this will also fix the djipi's mod also, though I can't for the life of me figure out what the setting in Rice Video is that would cause this

Maybe if you mess around with the advanced settings, like alpha blending, and the sort, it might fix itself..
Alternatively, you could try using the latest / or a different version video card driver, and that might fix the bug...
Maybe a good video card tweaker might also give you options on your card that might have an effect on the issue at hand...
Sorry can't help much, but trying to be as specific as possible...
Probably drivers, settings in your emulator, or tweaker options....
Worst case try running it in Vista.. it seems to have fixed issues just like that.....

I'm not sure what could be exactly causing that error. Could be many things. I've followed the guide a few times now and have no problems. Maybe try alternative video card drivers? Did you bother to try reinstalling PJ64?
Wait, I have a better idea: don't use PJ64 if it doesn't work. 1964 runs 10X better on my PC compared to Project64 and Mupen64. I have no real idea why, but 1964 gets the job done right. Considering the fact that all one needs to run a hi-res texture project is either Rice's plugin and/or Glide64 (as it now supports Rice's texture format), the folder in your plugin archive, and a emulator that works on your PC. If you dare even say that someone told you "PJ64 ownz," they are utterly wrong. All the emulators have their strengths and weakinesses; N64 emulation ain't at all perfect yet.
Instead of hitting the dead end constantly, try a different route.
